THE DETAILS

LOCATION

our wedding will be held inside Garfield Park Conservatory, located at 300 N Central Park Ave, Chicago, IL 60624.

DATE & TIME

we ask that guests please arrive before 5:15pm on August 26. the reception is to conclude at 11pm.

reminder: if you are traveling, Chicago is in the central time zone

DRESS CODE

we request that guests wear summer cocktail attire to celebrate!

what does that mean? essentially your traditional cocktail dress code, but with an emphasis on lighter fabrics and summer colors. we're at a conservatory in august, so it'll be warm and we want to make sure you're comfortable while also being dressed to celebrate!

please note, the ceremony will take place in a cobblestone floored room. if you are planning to wear heels, we recommend something wider than a stiletto so you do not get stuck!

PARKING

there is a free surface lot at the conservatory available for use should you choose to drive. security will monitor the lot for the length of the event.

NAVIGATING THE CONSERVATORY

this map shows where we will be holding each event. you are welcome to stroll the rest of the conservatory before the ceremony or during cocktail hour, but please make sure to not leave any personal or wedding belongings in non-event rooms.

WILL THE BRIDE BE CHANGING HER NAME?

sara will be keeping her last name as-is. therefore, any gifts or notes using the couple's full names can be addressed to sara ciavarella and/or peter hayes.

IS THIS A KIDS PARTY?

we are excited to have our flower girl and ring bearers at the ceremony, but otherwise let's keep it to just us adults.

similarly, we'll make sure that all guests who are invited are named on your invitation.

WEDDING COLORS

The wedding party will be wearing shades of blush, rose, burgundy, and grey.

You are welcome to wear any of these colors too :)

TRAVEL

FLIGHTS

are you more o'hare (ORD) or midway (MDW)?

since our events are central in chicago, either airport will work. you can make your way downtown via taxi, lyft/uber, or chicago's "L" train (blue line from o'hare or orange line from midway).

ACCOMMODATIONS

stay with us at swissotel chicago

we're excited to stay at the swissotel and to share our room block with you. we hope to see you there! you can reserve a room at the link below, or if you call to book, make sure to mention the ciavarella-hayes wedding!

ACTIVITIES

Explore Chicago

here are some of our favorite things to do around the city. if you have time to visit any of them, we hope you enjoy, too!

FOOD & DRINKS

SHEFFIELD'S

grab a drink at the bar where we had our first date. they have a great outdoor beer garden to enjoy as well as indoor seating. it is near wrigley field and can attract a big crowd on game days, but luckily the cubs are away this weekend.

neighborhood: lakeview east

ATHENIAN ROOM

one of the best greek restaurants in the city and a longtime favorite of the hayes family. the athenian room is a casual and fairly priced restaurant- a true gem of lincoln park. don't sleep on the greek fries and remember to bring cash.

neighborhood: lincoln park

JENI'S ICE CREAM

sara's favorite ice cream shop in the city and where peter bought her pints of ice cream for at-home date nights during stressful times at work (check out the goat cheese red cherry!)

neighborhoods: west loop, lakeview, wrigleyville, lincoln park, and more!

VAUGHAN'S

a small irish pub with lots of heart featuring a relaxing environment and great beer selection. vaughan's is a few blocks away from peter's first apartment and was/still is a frequent hangout spot.

neighborhood: lakeview east

TIMEOUT MARKET

enjoy food and drinks from some of the best & most popular restaurants in chicago all under one stylish roof.

neighborhood: west loop

PHILZ COFFEE

sure it's from san francisco, but it's still sara's favorite coffee shop in the city, brewed one cup at a time. customize your coffee or grab an iced mint mojito with oat milk like sara. (and no, there's no alcohol in the mojito :p)

neighborhood: lincoln park, wicker park, old town

CODA DI VOLPE

neopolitan pizza in a debated deep dish or tavern style pizza city

neighborhood: lakeview

LA COLOMBE COFFEE

made famous by the first apple card commercial - stop by for a smooth, draft oat milk latte.

neighborhoods: west loop, wicker park, andersonville, gold coast

THINGS TO DO

LIME SCOOTERS

yes, these exist outside of chicago too, but both of us are loyal lime riders and enjoy the practicality and the fun of a good summer scooter. it is a great way to get across town and have some thrills doing it!

neighborhoods: all over

ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO

take a stroll through the art institute and enjoy some of the most well-known art in the world. can you spot where we took our engagement photos while you're there?

neighborhood: the loop

BUCKINGHAM FOUNTAIN

if you're walking around after dinner, be sure to stop by this gorgeous fountain. at the top of every hour, enjoy a musical, lights, and water show.

neighborhood: the loop

WRIGLEY BUILDING

visit chicago...and egypt...and china, and everywhere in between when you stop by this iconic landmark with stones brought back by reporters from across the globe.

neighborhood: river north

THE 606

chicago is a railroad city! check out the biking and walking trail along the site of a former train line that now cuts through the trendy wicker park and logan square neighborhoods. stop by margie's candies for one of their famous sundaes after!

neighborhood: wicker park, logan square

CITY OF NEIGHBORHOODS

chicago is known for being a city of neighborhoods. stop by some of our most-loved neighborhoods in the city and see what makes each so unique.

lakeview - the young & the old
lincoln park - classic
wicker park - hip
west loop - trendy & top restaurants
river north - big city vibes, but places are open outside of M-F/9-5
west town - home to sara & peter and a killer food scene
